Na semana de 16 a 23 de junho de 2019 nossa igreja foi presenteada pela Gracepoint Church, de San Antonio, Texas, com a presença da família Leffler: Ron, Esther e Rachuel. Neste artigo faremos um relatório da visita deles à nossa igreja, Primeira Igreja Batista no Recreio dos Bandeirantes, carinhosamente chamada por nós de Igreja do Recreio.
Nossa igreja possui vários projetos sociais, sendo os mais importantes o CCH – Centro de Cuidado Humano e o CASACAP, um centro de ação social em Vargem Grande. A família veio em trabalho missionário trazer suas experiências para estes dois projetos.
During the week june, 16 throu 23, 2019 our church has received a gift from Gracepoint Church, San Antonio, Texas, they’ve sent the Leffler family to spend a week with us represented by Pr. Ron, his wife Esther and his daughter Rachuel. In this article we will repor their visit to our church, First Baptist Church in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, gently nicknamed Igreja do Recreio (Recreio’s Church).
The church has several social assistance projects. The most important are CCH – Human Care Center and CASACAP. The Leffler family came to bless these two iniciatives.
16/06 – Domingo (Sunday)
Pr. Daniel Camaforte convoca reunião para que os intépretes conheçam a família Leffler. Marcamos ponto de encontro da tenda da igreja e de lá seguimos para o apartamento em que eles estavam, ao lado do Américas Shopping.
Pr. Daniel Camaforte schedule a meeting with the translators in order to they meet the family. We had selected the church’s tent as a meeting point and from there we’ve headed to the apartment by the side of Americas Mall
No encontro todos foram apresentados, definimos a agenda da semana e quem iria acompanhar os visitantes em cada atividade. Logo em seguinda fomos para o culto no CASACAP, onde o Pr. Ron fez sua primeira participação.
The weekly schedule was set at the meeting and just in sequence we have headed to CASACAP, where Pr. Ron has preached for the first time in this visit.
17/06 – Segunda-Feira (Monday)
No horário da manhã a família Leffler foi conhecer o CCH – Centro de Cuidado Humano da Igreja do Recreio, local onde são tratadas pessoas que sofrem por dependência química, psicológica ou outros transtornos que fazem com que essas pessoas não sejam aceitas normalmente nas igrejas.
Dentro da metodologia de tratamento do CCH existe um momento de “compartilhar”, onde as pessoas são divididas em pequenos grupos e nesses pequenos grupos cada um compartilha a sua luta pessoal e as pequenas vitórias que obteve na última semana. Todos começam suas falas com a frase “Meu nome é X, eu sou filho amado de Deus em tratamento contra A, B, C…”
At the morning the Lefflers has been to CCH (Human Care Center). In this place we treat people who suffers from chemical dependency and other diseases that make these people usually unaccepted in regular services.
In the methodology there is a “sharing” moment, where people share with each other about their personal struggles and the small victories along the week. All the speeches must began with “My name is X. I’m a beloved son of god in treatment against A, B, C…”
Em seu primeiro almoço conosco levamos a família para uma churrascaria onde puderam aprecisar a grande variedade dos sabores brasileiros.
Na parte da tarde fomos para o CASACAP e acompanhamos o Juan que foi à comunidade prestar serviço social individualmente na casa de algumas pessoas em situação de necessidade.
Ao fim do dia levamos a família para conhecer as belezas naturais do nosso bairro, Recreio dos Bandeirantes, onde além das lindas vistas propiciadas pela natureza eles ainda foram contemplados com um belo nascer da Lua.
Para encerrar a noite levamos Esther e Rachuel para conhecer uma iguaria típica brasileira: o açaí, que as deixou encantadas.
In their first lunch with us we have taken then to a barbecue house where they could enjoy several Brazilian flavors.
At the afternoon we’ve been to CASACAP and go after Juan in his social community service in the homes of people in need.
At the end of the day, we had a pleasant time in the beaches or our neighborhood, Recreio dos Bandeirantes where we could enjoy not only the beautiful natural sights of the region but also an astonishing Moon rise!
To finish the night they had been introduced to Açaí, one more Brazilian specialty that they like so much.

18/06 – Terça-Feira (Tuesday)
Na terça-feira a família Leffler passou todo o dia fazendo trabalhos evangelísticos no CASACAP.

19/06 – Quarta-Feira (Wednesday)
No horário da manhã fomos novamente para o CCH mas dessa vez, no que seria horário do “compartilhar” fomos todos para o campo de futebol, onde o Pr. Ron ensinou futebol americano para a turma.
At the morning we’ve been again to CCH but instead of sharing in “sharing time” we went to the football field where Pr. Ron taught american football.
Na parte da tarde fomos para o CASACAP. A família Leffler conheceu um pouco mais do trabalho realizado naquele local, foram praticadas algumas atividades esportivas e o Pr. Ron compatilhou um pouco da sua experiência de vida para os grupos que treinavam jiu jitsu e capoeira.
At the afternoon we headed to CASACAP. Lefflers has met a bit of the work that is done in that place, they have seen some sports activities and Pr. Ron has shared is experience with Jiu Jitsu and Capoeira classes.
Destaque especial para a capoeira, que os alunos fizeram uma linda apresentação de improviso com ajuda do Pr. Ricardo Pinudo no pandeiro e o professor deles cantando a legítima capoeira gospel.
We had a special moment in Capoeira, when the students did a beautiful improvised presentation to our visitors with the help of Pr. Ricardo Pinudo and their teacher singing a gospel Capoeira.
20/06 – Quinta-Feira (Thursday)
Neste dia dedicado inteiramente ao CASACAP a agenda foi intensa. Logo na chegada tivemos o Pr. Ron ensinando futebol americano enquanto sua esposa Esther e sua filha Rachuel animavam as crianças com atividades artísticas e artesanato.
O Pr. Ron ainda ensinou basquete e beisebol para as crianças entre diversas atividades. Nossos visitantes puderam presenciar mais um trabalho da igreja que é a distribuição de almoço para as crianças que frequentam as atividades da instituição. Ao final das atividades todo o material que o Pr. Ron trouxe ficou para a instituição.
O ponto alto do dia foi o momento em que o Pr. Ron foi orar com as crianças depois da sua pregação. Logo no início da oração ele disse para as crianças repetirem suas palavras mas, para surpresa do intérprete, as crianças estavam repetindo as palavras do pastor em inglês antes mesmo de receberem a tradução. Então a dinâmica ficou assim:

O detalhe importante é que nenhuma das crianças tinha contato com a língua inglesa e todos repetiram com perfeição as palavras do pastor. Foi lindo!
This entire CASACAP day had an intense schedule. At the morning Pr. Ron taught amercian footbal meanwhile his wife Esther and his daughter Rachuel entertained the children.
Pr. Ron has taught even basketball and baseball among other activities. Our visitors could testify that our church serves lunch for all the children over there. At the end of the acitivities Pr. Ron has left all the gear that came with him to the institution.
The best moment of the day was when Pr. Ron has prayed with the children, he asked then to “repeat after him” and then the children was repeating him in English before the translator could do his job! And then this was the mechanic:

The amazing fact is about that children has never had contact with English language and they have repeated Pr. Ron perfectly. It was astonishing!
Ainda na sequência tivemos a Rachuel ministrando uma curta aula de inglês para as crianças, que foi interrompida quando Ron começou a distribuir balas e doces e as crianças ficaram muito alvoroçadas para continuar a aula. Neste vídeo temos a pregação completa do Pr. Ron às crianças e a aula da Rachuel e mais algumas coisas que aconteceram durante o dia.
In the sequence we have Rachuel teaching a brief English class to the children that was interrupted when Pr. Ron began to distribute candies to the children, they were so excited that there is no way to keep the class. In this video we have the complete preaching of Pr. Ron, Rachuel’s English class and some more moments of that day.
Depois do dia cheio no CASACAP foi a hora do Pr. Ron participar do culto da noite na sede da igreja no culto do projeto Celebrando a Vida tendo como tradutor o Pr. Miquéias.
At the end of this very busy day Pr. Ron preached at the church headquarters in a service called “Celebrating Life” having Pr. Miquéias in his translation.
21/06 – Sexta-Feira (Friday)
Dentre seus vários projetos de assistência social o CASACAP promove todas as sextas-feiras a distribuição hortaliças para aqueles que participam do culto da tarde.
Nesta sexta-feira especial, além das pessoas ouvirem a palavra ministrada pelo Pr. Ron eles receberam as hortaliças das mãos da família Leffler.
Among several social assistance activities, every Fridays CASACAP does a food distribution for the people who participate in the service.
In this special Friday Pr. Ron has preached and his family did the distribution.
Depois da distribuição de alimentos o Pr. Ron foi para o campo de futebol, onde o time iria iniciar seu treino. Neste momento ele utilizou mias uma vez a oportunidade para dar seu testemunho e orar com o time tendo o Danilo Milheiros, professor de inglês, como intérprete.
After the food distribution Pr. Ron went to the football practice and have preached to the trainees and prayed having Daniel Milheiros in translation.
22/06 (Folga) – Sábado (Saturday)
No final de semana seria a folga da família Leffler e o planejamento seria levá-los para conhecer os pontos turísticos do Rio, porém a Esther manifestou o desejo de mergulhar em Angra dos Reis. Trata-se de um passeio com custo bem elevado mas depois de acionar alguns contatos conseguimos um amigo, guia turístico, que faria o passeio todo por apenas R$ 1.000,00 já incluindo equipamento de mergulho, aluguel do barco e lanche. Além do preço especial o fato de estar entre amigos tornou o dia ainda mais agradável.
Fizemos a viagem até Angra dos Reis. A vista propiciada pela Rod. Rio Santos já é um espetáculo por si só. No caminho paramos para comer pão com liguiça, queijo e ovo, mais uma especiaria local que encantou nossos amigos visitantes.
Chegando aos destino fizemos um breve passeio pelo centro histórico e já entramos no barco com destino a Lagoa Azul, em Ilha em Grande. Lá eles praticaram um pouco de mergulho em águas cristalinas. Depois fizemos uma parada rápida na praia de Freguesia de Santana onde Esther aproveitou para catar vidro envelhecido na areia da praia que será posteriormente utilizado para fazer obra de arte por sua cunhada. Depois fomos para a Ilha Cataguás onde eles fizeram mais mergulho e fizemos um pequeno lanche.
Ao regressar para o continente tínhamos o planejamento de ir até a Praia do Laboratório para entrar na água aquecida pelo despejo do complexo nuclear de Angra, mas como já estávamos todos cansados decidimos de lá regressar para o Rio.
Na volta paramos para almoçar em um belo restaurante especializado em frutos do mar, em Itaguaí, com vista para o mar. Lá nossos visitantes conheceram bobó de camarão.
This weekend was the family vacation and we have planned to take then to Rio’s touristic points but Esther told about her desire to dive at Angra dos Reis. It’s a quite expensive trip but we have engaged some contacts and we could to this trip for only US$ 300 all inclusive (boat, diving gear, guide, snacks). Not only the price was good as the friendship of the guide and photographer as well.
The travel to Angra dos Reis is amazing because of the astonishing views from the road. We stopped to have a breakfast and the family could enjoy one more Brazilian specialty: bread with sausage, cheese and eggs.
After reach our destination in historical downtown of Angra we have boarded in the boat and head to Lagoa Azul beach (Blue Lagoon) in Ilha Grande (Great Island) where they have dived in crystal waters and then we went to Freguesia de Santana where Esther could pick some glasses in the sand to do artwork back home and the we stopped at Cataguás Island where they have dived a bit more and had snacks.
The original plan is to visit one more beach after reaching the continent, the Laboratório Beach (Lab Beach) witch have its water warmed by the remnants of nuclear power plant cooling water, but we are all very tired and decided to head home.
In the way back we have stopped at very beautiful and cozy restaurant where they could taste more of Brazilian specialties.
23/06 – Domingo (Sunday)
Devido ao curto período de tempo livre que a família Leffler ainda teria no Rio não foi possível levá-los para conhecer todos os pontos turísticos e por isso os levamos apenas ao Cristo Redentor. Saímos por volta de 9h com o objetivo de fazer a subida do Corcovado de trem, porém as filas estavam enormes. Sendo assim fomos de carro até o local de embarque das vans e lá descobrimos que, comprando o tíquete na estação Paineiras seria bem rápido, e assim foi feito. Passamos um bom tempo fotografando no monumento do Cristo Redentor, almoçamos por lá e regressamos a tempo de descansarmos para o culto da noite.
Due to the small amount of free time they had it would be impossible to take then to the major touristic points in Rio then we decided to visit only Christ The Redeemer. We did the trip by train, that was a very nice ride, took some pictures up there, have a lunch and came back in time to have some rest and go to night service.
Ao final do dia a família Leffler foi apresentada pelo pastor presidente da Igreja do Recreio, Wander Gomes, a toda congregação no culto de domingo. O trabalho de tradução foi feito pelo Pr. Daniel Camaforte, que foi quem fez a intermediação com a Gracepoint Church para que essa visita fosse viabilizada.
O Pr. Wander Gomes explicou para a igreja sobre a visita dos missionários mostrando um pequeno resumo das atividades realizadas ao longo da semana.
At the end of the day the Leffler family was introduced to our entire church in the main night service. The translation has done by Pr. Daniel Camaforte, who did all the negotiations with Gracepoint Church that make this visit possible.
Our Senior Pastor Wander Gomes explained for the church about the services our visitor has done for our community during their visit along the week.
Ao final do culto foi o momento da despedida, cada intérprete ganhou uma pequena lembrança da família. Fizemos algumas fotos e fomos jantar no restaurante Stadium, no Américas Shopping, onde fizemos um brinde. Quem fez o discurso do brinde foi a Esther. O melhor de tudo neste brinde foi ouvi-la dizer que o Brasil é o “Wow-Country” (país-wow) de tão maravilhados que eles ficaram com nossas belezas naturais.
Ficaremos com saudade e aguardamos a nova visita no próximo ano.
At the end of the service was the good-bye moment. Every translator have won a gift, we did some pictures and had a dinner in a good restaurant where we made a toast. Esther is who spoken in the toast and the better part was to heard from her that the Brazil is a Wow-Country!
We will miss them and we are looking forward to the visit in the next year.
